Dear Tiffany, Numbers Don't Matter!

As a blogger, I'm constantly checking numbers. How many views did my recent post get? How many likes can I get? I have to show off how many followers I have. I'm here to say that I'm trying to change this. Worrying about numbers is toxic to me. I'm trying to not stress myself out over things that I know I have no control over. I can't make people like my posts. I can't make people follow me. I can't make people read my posts.

I have to remember that I'm just here to have fun. I'm here to recommend the books that I love. I'm here to find new books.

Now, I will start having monthly giveaways starting on July 1st, 2020. One of my requirements to enter will be to subscribe to my blog. I don't think it's wrong to ask that. I will verify that people are subscribed. I may be trying not to care about my numbers but I would like people to subscribe so I can have the engagement.

One of the things I'm doing to help myself not stress out with numbers is that I'm not going to showcase them! I will not have sections in my blog dedicated to showing how many subscribers/followers I have. I will also not show how many views my blog gets anymore as well.

When I was on WordPress, I stressed getting that number up. It went up to over 300 and I was living for it. Until, I noticed that my following got kind of stagnant. I started stressing out because I needed more people to follow me. I needed a higher number. I'm trying to get out of this mindset.

Also, I'm not going to lie. I like how much cleaner my blog looks without having random widgets showing off my followers!
